Parents concerned about Satanic themes in CA Elementary school books

Parents are concerned about ‘satanic’ themes and imagery found in one California public elementary schools library book.

The image from the book “Janie’s Adventure” that has local parents concerned.

In Rapid Springs, California, mother Ann Woolworth describes the feelings she felt when she found this page in a rather innocent seeming book her daughter (4th grade) brought home from school:

“I was absolutely appalled. At first I thought it was a sick joke. But it’s not. This school carries many copies of this book. We are a Christian family, and if we can’t have Christian books in school, satanists can’t have theirs either. All of this just makes me sick.”

The school (Rothwood Elementary), stands by it’s choice of books kept in the library for their children. Principal Corie Marsh spoke with Channel 3 News and had this to say:

“We believe whole-heatedly in the separation of church and state. This book is not satanic. It is a children’s fantasy adventure book. It is [FICTION], guys. Everyone just needs to calm down. We have more important things to worry about.”

What do you think? Should this book be kept in the school’s library? Let us know your opinion in the comments below!
